Miles, a nine and a half year old Westie was found straying in February 2021. Not only did Miles arrive with an infection in both his ears, he had a very painful eye. His left eye was larger than normal, the sclera (white of the eye) was very red and there was blood inside the eyeball.

Since Miles was found all alone, we don’t know what had happened to cause his painful, enlarged eye, or how long it had been like that. He was given pain relief and drugs to reduce the swelling to his eye. Miles had lost the sight in that eye, and the swelling did not respond to the treatment given so, to remove the pain, our vet surgically removed his eye under anaesthetic. Because he had already lost sight in his eye, Miles didn’t take long to recover.

His ear infection was treated, and Miles had dental treatment too – 6 loose teeth were extracted and the rest given a good clean and polish. Miles’ surgery went well and he recovered very quickly, back to his happy, bouncy self within a couple of days.

We are delighted to say he has now found his new forever home and we wish him all the best with his new family.
