Delightful Dudley

When Delightful Dudley arrived at Stray Aid through no fault of his own, it was obvious he had his share of health problems. His left eyelid was deformed, probably from birth, his left eye was blind and covered in pigment, and his left ear had crumpled, a condition known as “cauliflower ear”. This occurs when a blood vessel in the ear flap bursts and the flap fills with blood, which then clots and gets re-absorbed. This may have occurred due to Dudley traumatising his ear as he rubbed at his painful eye.

Although his ear flap will not return to normal, the scarring is not painful. Sadly, the same could not be said for his eye. There was no improvement with medical treatment, so the only option to take away Dudley’s pain was to remove the eye completely.

Dudley was immediately happier, and as he had previously been blind in that eye, his vision wasn’t affected further. He is now a happy, confident boy who has found the loving forever home he deserves.
